Dear Parents and Carers,
You may have been made aware about a disturbance at an event that took place at the school early on Saturday evening, this weekend.
I would like to reassure parents that, like most schools, we let the school out for a variety of events and that we have very stringent pre-letting procedures in place, which includes very clear regulations about how the premises can and cannot be used; no alcohol at children’s events/parties and appropriate adult supervision at all times for example, as well as various checks and forms that must be completed in advance of any event.
Site staff are clear about how to proceed in situations, where lettings do not follow the protocols agreed and procedures were followed appropriately at this event, with police attending the site and the event being stopped in order to ensure that matters were dealt with safely and appropriately. The school is liaising with the police regarding the incident.
We also lock the school down so that there is only limited access to the spaces that have been agreed to be let, so the site can remain secure, despite a letting taking place, which was the case on Saturday evening, so again parents can be reassured that the school site is safe and secure as a result. Senior leadership attended the site this morning and it was clear that a party had taken place but nothing more. The school has been deep cleaned, as it would be, after any letting and the site is in good order and ready for another school week.
I understand that there has been much social media activity in this respect. The police are investigating to ascertain the facts around the incident and I would ask that parents refrain from continuing speculation and further comment on social media which is unhelpful and often inaccurate. Many thanks, we look forward to seeing everyone on Monday.
Kind regards,
Ms V. Morris
